Don Barrett has been a musician since the age of 10. Upon graduating from Purdue University, his training, performances, compositions, and recordings have included projects ranging from progressive rock (with veteran producers Mass Giorginni and Fergus Daly) to studying film scoring at UCLA under the instruction of acclaimed composers Robert Drasnin (Mission: Impossible) and Lee Sanders (The Amazing Race). Don composed the original score for the popular series Touched by an Angel in its final season on CBS and is currently assisting Emmy-nominated and BMI award-winning composer Ron Jones (Fox’s Family Guy), where he serves as orchestrator, composer assistant, and technical adviser. He recently completed original music for several short films, numerous Smart Post Sound projects, and the award-winning television pilot “The Real Life” by creator Krystal Jalene Thomas. Don has also composed nationally recognized concert works and continues to compose and arrange for competitive marching bands and concert percussion ensembles around the country. Don currently resides in Los Angeles and continues to serve as a panelist at various technical seminars and provide guest lectures at the Art Institute of L.A. Stochastic Coalgebraic Logic

Coalgebraic logic is an important research topic in the areas of concurrency theory, semantics, transition systems and modal logics. It provides a general approach to modeling systems, allowing us to apply important results from coalgebras, universal algebra and category theory in novel ways. Stochastic systems provide important tools for systems modeling, and recent work shows that categorical reasoning may lead to new insights, previously not available in a purely probabilistic setting.

This book combines coalgebraic reasoning, stochastic systems and logics. It provides an insight into the principles of coalgebraic logic from a categorical point of view, and applies these systems to interpretations of stochastic coalgebraic logics, which include well-known modal logics and continuous time branching logics. The author introduces stochastic systems together with their probabilistic and categorical foundations and gives a comprehensive discussion of the Giry monad as the underlying categorical construction, presenting many new, hitherto unpublished results. He discusses modal logics, introduces their probabilistic interpretations, and then proceeds to an analysis of Kripke models for coalgebraic logics.

Algorithms for Fuzzy Clustering: Methods in c-Means Clustering with Applications

Product Description

The main subject of this book is the fuzzy c-means proposed by Dunn and Bezdek and their variations including recent studies. A main reason why we concentrate on fuzzy c-means is that most methodology and application studies in fuzzy clustering use fuzzy c-means, and hence fuzzy c-means should be considered to be a major technique of clustering in general, regardless whether one is interested in fuzzy methods or not. Unlike most studies in fuzzy c-means, what we emphasize in this book is a family of algorithms using entropy or entropy-regularized methods which are less known, but we consider the entropy-based method to be another useful method of fuzzy c-means. Throughout this book one of our intentions is to uncover theoretical and methodological differences between the Dunn and Bezdek traditional method and the entropy-based method. We do note claim that the entropy-based method is better than the traditional method, but we believe that the methods of fuzzy c-means become complete by adding the entropy-based method to the method by Dunn and Bezdek, since we can observe natures of the both methods more deeply by contrasting these two.
